For the past 24 hours, Giancarlo PEDOTE, the skipper of Prysmian Group has been battling to stay in the lead peloton, whilst continuing to respect his boat.
“My boat and I are at a stage where it is necessary to demonstrate ‘good seamanship’. The Indian Ocean is powerful. With its 5-metre waves it’s trying to tire us out. Its changes of mood call for as many adjustments, which exhaust both the sailor and the boat. And yet, it is majestic. In fact, if I were to make a comparison, I’d compare the Indian Ocean to Michelangelo’s David: muscly and determined, with a steady gaze.”
