Some time at sea for a qualification 

Last Friday, Giancarlo PEDOTE, the skipper of Prysmian Ocean Racing was at sea to complete his qualification for the Vendée Arctique Les Sables d’Olonne race, the start of which will take place on 4 July. The objective of this qualification was twofold.  Spending time at sea prior to a major race enables a sailor to familiarise themselves with the boat, find their bearings again and rediscover past sensations in terms of performance and life on-board in particular (cooking, sleeping, routing…). Following this period of adaptation, the game plan also involved validating certain manoeuvres and sail configurations, continuing the quest for performance and trying to draw up a list of points to be validated during the long-distance races. Right now, it’s time for the final preparations before the very first post-Covid19 sports event, whose organisation team has successfully managed to adapt its programme to the latest international health guidelines. As such, there will not be the usual start village in Les Sables d’Olonne, any briefings will be virtual and all the competitors will leave their port of registry by 3 July at 14:00 hours at the latest after a serological test, so they can deliver their boat to the start line offshore of Les Sables d’Olonne.
