Short bursts of sport to clear the head

As is always the case during the pre-start phases, the sailors have a packed schedule to fill their days. Amidst various obligations related to the organisation, including this morning’s safety briefing and the various media appointments, Giancarlo Pedote and Martin Le Pape are having to divide their time as best they can with the aim of remaining fully focused on their race. “We’re trying to have some short breaks for sport in a bid to clear our heads a bit whenever we get a rare moment’s respite between the series of meetings, or the odd bit of DIY still left to do on the boat or studying the weather. We’ve managed to go for a few runs and in addition to discovering that Giancarlo is fighting fit, it’s been nice sharing some brief moments like that. I’m assuming that if we can enjoy each other’s company doing something besides boating, things can only go well at sea”, confirms the co-skipper of Prysmian Group. Though his teammate is particularly in demand, Martin is making the most of any spare time he has to try to dissect the grib files and run the routing software. “At sea, I’ll be in charge of the navigation aspect so that’s my job. For now, the situation’s not very fixed as yet. We don’t really know what conditions are going to be served up, so we’ll just have to be patient”, concludes Martin.
