After setting sail from Lorient at around 02:00hrs on Wednesday morning, Giancarlo Pedote and Anthony Marchand made Cowes at around 11:00hrs local time this Thursday. “The delivery trip went really well. We didn’t have a lot of breeze, just a slight residual swell to follow up the gale from the start of the week, since we had around 10 knots on average and never more than 16-17 knots. Essentially, we were sailing under J0. It was perfect for continuing with the boat’s work-up with Anthony”, commented the skipper of the 60-footer in the colours of Prysmian Group, who has now taken up residence temporarily on the Isle of Wight, which will host Saturday’s start of the 48th edition of the Rolex Fastnet Race. “We’ve prepared a jobs list, which the guys from the shore team will calmly help us tick off. As such, we’ll be able to set off well rested and in tip-top condition”, explains Giancarlo, who is now turning his attentions to the weather for the course, a 608-mile chunk of racetrack bound for Plymouth via the legendary Fastnet Rock. Like all the competitors in the race, he’ll also be attending this evening’s briefing at 18:00 hours.
