The health crisis caused by the Coronavirus epidemic is currently requiring everyone to take action and adapt. With the skippers forced, like every one of us, into self-confinement during this tricky time, they are organising their lives as best they can to continue with their preparation in the best possible conditions. “I’ve always done a huge amount of sport in my life and it’s an integral part of my daily existence. As such, even during this special phase, whilst we’re locked down at home, I’m not neglecting this aspect”, explains the skipper of Prysmian Group in partnership with Electriciens sans frontières. “Right now, I’m replacing these sessions with other muscle strengthening exercises (press-ups, abdominals and core-strengthening exercises…), stretches and cardio, notably including some skipping exercises in my garage”, explains the Italian sailor, whose philosophy ties in with the famous line from the Tenth Satire of Juvenal: “mens sana in corpore sano”, which translates into English as “a healthy mind in a healthy body”.
