The organisers of the Vendée Globe made the announcement on Thursday: the start of the event, scheduled for 8 November, will take place in the absence of the public. The decision is obviously a result of the implementation of a new period of health lockdown across France through until 1 December. So, how can you watch the live coverage of the big day far from the legendary jetties of the channel leading out of Les Sables d’Olonne? In fact, a significant media device will be providing live coverage of the race start on the official websitea and the mobile app, plus 33 TV channels will be broadcasting live feed of the event, including France Télévision, LCI and TV Vendée for those in France. From 08:50 hours local time, you’ll be able to witness the 29 monohulls casting off, the exit from the channel and the live start at 13:02 hours. Once the skippers have set sail, the Vendée Globe cartography will enable you to track the progress of the fleet in elapsed time, from 13:12 hours, updated every six minutes. To ensure you don’t miss a thing, you’ll also have at your disposal all the social networks and notably the Vendée Globe TV YouTube channel.
