This Friday is inevitably a rather special day for every one of us, especially for Giancarlo Pedote, who is celebrating Christmas at sea. “It’s always a special moment”, commented the skipper of Prysmian Group, who is delighted to have managed to repair his mast antenna yesterday. “When I think back to that, I feel content. It’s a wonderful gift to myself” added the sailor, who was able to benefit from a short but rare moment yesterday evening, via his onboard means of communication: “I was able to see my children opening their presents live. My wife filmed it and it was great to share that moment with them. They received some cameras so they’ll have lots of images to show me on my return”. Giancarlo also received a few presents too. “I had some cakes, a little Panettone, lots of little things made by Stefania and my children, including drawings, medals, some heart-shaped beads and a scooby string keyring. I’m very happy as I’d asked for some small gifts and letters and everything arrived! It’s a fantastic Christmas!”continued the Florentine, currently making headway between New Zealand and the famous Point Nemo (the maritime pole of inaccessibility or the furthest point from land in the world). “Instead of having a log fire, I’m warming myself up with my Lombardini engine. I’ve only just turned it on now to charge the batteries and the air in the boat’s living pod has already shot up three degrees. That makes me really happy so life is good!” concluded the skipper.
