Last week, weather conditions were fairly complicated with wind, waves and a great deal of moisture, but fortunately nothing aboard is broken and that’s the most important thing. Giancarlo PEDOTE and his boat Prysmian Group are in tip-top condition to tackle the Pacific Ocean.
“Today, I have a fairly average wind, which is enabling me to slip along towards Cape Leeuwin (Australia). I’m eager to discover a new Ocean. We’re a long way behind in relation to the 2016 Vendée Globe. I’m happy to have brought a lot of food and diesel with me.”
A bit of history / geography: The first humans to live at the cape where the Wardandi Aborigines. They called it "Doogalup". Officially named, in December 1801 by Matthew Flinders, it was called Leeuwin (‘Lionness’) after a Dutch galleon which discovered and mapped part of Australia’s south-west coast in March 1622. Leeuwin was the seventh European ship to sight the Australian continent.
