Checking everything so as to have no regrets, such is the ambiance aboard Prysmian Group. Giancarlo Pedote has been very scrupulously inspecting the boat from top to toe over the past 48 hours. Indeed, even though the sailor has never circumnavigated the globe before, he knows that you have to take care of your steed in order to sail a clean race in the Southern Ocean.
“I did a few odd jobs yesterday, because you always find something to do when you’re looking. I’ve lubricated the rams and the winches, repaired the sheet arrangement and checked for wear on the lines… Nothing very serious to report, but it’s always better for your mind to have a clean boat in perfect condition. Now I’d like the wind to pick up a bit as it’s very calm at the moment, but I’ve got no complaints. Life is good here in the middle of the Atlantic.”
As a result, it’s brimming with optimism that the skipper of Prysmian Group attacks his third week of racing.
