50 shades of grey… but with little pleasure

It’s a month since the Vendée Globe set sail and the Vendée Globe sailors who have plunged into a tunnel of low-pressure systems are experiencing some intense moments out on the racetrack. “The days are increasingly similar here in the Indian Ocean. The skies are grey, there are heavy seas and the colours of the waves are a mix of light grey and dark grey. The wind is howling and the sheets are flapping. Moisture is a constant travelling companion. It’s not nice to live at these latitudes.”
Immersed in an ambiance where moisture is all-encompassing, the Italian skipper of Prysmian Group knows that any pleasures are short-lived but he is hopeful of a brief period of calm at the end of the week to take care of himself and his boat.
The initiation in the deep south is a guarantee of a thrilling ride.
