Setting a course for Le Havre

Whilst the past few days have been devoted to thorough checks of the boat’s various systems (autopilot, desalinator, hydrogenerators, generator…), it’s now time to set a course for Le Havre, the start venue for the 14th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre Normandie – Le Havre. In this way, today, Wednesday, Giancarlo Pedote and Anthony Marchand leave their base in Lorient bound for the Bassin Paul Vatine, a basin which all the boats competing in the event must have reached by this coming Friday at the latest, as stipulated in the Sailing Instructions. The skipper of the 60-footer in the colours of Prysmian Group and his associate plan to begin their delivery trip in the afternoon with an ETA of Thursday evening for making the Norman port after around twenty hours or so at sea. This would see them make landfall at the right time slot for the passage through the lock gates. “This will be our final sail before the start of the transatlantic race. As such, it’s the final opportunity to check everything one last time in sailing conditions. We should benefit from some fairly good conditions, with wind from various sectors, none of which is set to exceed 20-25 knots”, explains the Italian sailor.
